New Telephone Number - how posh!

Geordie Gifts
Well we've got a new telephone number. We had to get a 0845 number as we may move the business at some point and needed a number which can come with us wherever we move too!  Just a very productive trip to Top Drawer where I met my lovely agent and discussed new projects.  Just finished a whole range of cards under licence for a North East based company so its all busy but good busy!

  1. 0845 numbers haven't been "local rate" since 2004. They are premium numbers with a Service Charge to the benefit of the called party which will have to be declared from June 2015 onwards. See Ofcom announcements about the new "unbundled tariffs" system.

On 13 June 2014 it becomes illegal to use 084, 087 and 09 numbers for customer service lines. Acceptable numbers begin 01, 02 and 03. Freephone numbers will also comply from June 2015. In 2007, Ofcom reserved the matching 034 and 037 numbers for users of existing 084 and 087 numbers to migrate.

  2. Thanks for this advice. Our business moved in January and having an 0845 number was the only way to enable continuity of a phone service. We chose a local rate contract so in fact we don't make money we actually pay for this service so our customers are actually charged at local rate depending on their own personal tarriffs. Point taken about 13 June 14 will look into this. Thanks again for bringing this up much appreciated.
